On April 24, 2004, the Conscripts squished themselves into the smaller of the two meeting rooms of the Tyson-Pimmit Regional Library in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. Once more, Able Conscript Jason Cameron appeared with all of the equipment from the Photojournalism Company (Provisional) to enshrine the event in all its pixelated glory.

Hail, Hail! The gang's all here. Clockwise from Chris Baer's smiling face at the top are Harry Morris, Alan Statham, John Stadick, Jim Mehl, Roni Hourihane, Joe Jackson, and Doug Bush.

"That's incredible!" exclaims Roni Hourihane as Alan Statham uses sheer will power to move his counters across the map. Meanwhile, Joe Jackson watches closely as Doug Bush reveals a stack comprised solely of half-squads with demo charges and ATRs.

Jim Mehl puts some distance between himself and the board as his opponent, John Stadick, discovers that his assault has been stymied by a single dummy stack for four turns. Alan Statham keeps up the psychic thing beside John.

All smiles now, but after the match . . .

Doug Bush (left) and Joe Jackson take a break from their cardboard conflict to pose for Able Conscript Cameron's Camera. Harry Morris laughs in the background because Roni Hourihane has just removed one of Joe's PvIVs from the board and replaced it with a Polish tankette.

"No, seriously," District Commissar Chris Baer insists, "in full ASL, as opposed to the Starter Kit, if I roll boxcars on my morale check, one of your squads breaks." Harry Morris isn't buying it.

Alan Statham looks up the result of a 24 down four against Roni Hourihane's troops while John Stadick wonders if he can use the same psychic powers that Alan used earlier to move his counters.

Synchronized ASL

Jim Mehl, Roni Hourihane, and Joe Jackson perfect their timing as they prepare for the Winter Offensive Synchronized Team ASL Tournament, Jim and Joe reaching across their maps while Roni prepares to roll dice, evoking the precarious balance of offensive defense and the nature of skulking in a presentation sure to bring tears to the judges' eyes.

Quiet, please. The master is putting.

Jim Mehl motions for the crowd to be silent as Able Conscript Jason Cameron, his visage a perfect picture of concentration, prepares to move a squad.

Forrest Atterberry managed to stay out of every picture at the meeting but one. This is it.
